Motul TT Assen: good start into the Weekend for Tom Lüthi

In variable weather conditions, the Moto2 World Championship starts into the last race weekend before the summer break - Tom Lüthi ends the first day of practice in 16th place overall.

On the first day of practice at the Dutch Grand Prix, held at the TT Circuit Assen, the Moto2 riders had to fight their way through changing weather conditions. While the first free practice session in the morning was run in the dry, it rained in the afternoon - for Tom Lüthi this meant that he was unable to improve his time in the afternoon after the crash in FP1, in which he fortunately remained uninjured. Nevertheless, the conclusion is very positive, as the Swiss rider was able to secure 16th overall in the morning despite the crash, and then 12th overall in the afternoon in the rain, thanks to a good feeling for the bike and a good pace.

Tom Lüthi (P16 | 1'37.847  | +1.103):

We are happy with the first day here in Assen. I'm a bit disappointed that I crashed in FP1 because we were really on a good run - we could have gone straight into Q2 with that pace. I had a good feeling for the bike, the team did a great job. Also in the second practice in the rain I was able to go to the limit and felt very comfortable on the bike. I was able to gain confidence in the tires and I'm curious to see what conditions await us tomorrow. If we can stay on this track and make further progress, we can make the direct step into Q2, which is definitely the goal for tomorrow morning.
