A wet start to the weekend from the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix

Tom Lüthi ends the first practice day in P13 - and thus probably qualifies for Q2 of tomorrow Saturday.

The start into the weekend of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix' in San Marino (IT) went anything but with beautiful, southern weather. All classes completed the first free practice in the morning in rainy conditions - in the afternoon the conditions slowly improved. Nevertheless, one could not speak of dry conditions, the asphalt of the World Circuit Marco Simoncelli was partially wet until the end of the second free practice of the Moto2.

Tom Lüthi ( 1'43.115 | +2.185 ):

I started the first free practice session quite well in the morning - we were already able to make some technical improvements to the bike during the first pit stop. In FP1, however, I didn't have enough laps left to fully test these adjustments. In FP2 in the afternoon we were able to build on the work of the morning, when the conditions got better. The track dried up, lap by lap my feeling improved and so did the times. I was betting everything on the last lap - but on my second last lap the yellow flag was raised, which slowed me down a bit. I crossed the start-finish line a few seconds too late, which meant that my last lap was no longer valid. Nevertheless, I will probably make the direct step into Q2 tomorrow, which is the main thing for me today. I'm happy with our work on this first day - many thanks to the whole team!
