GermanGP: 4th row for Tom Lüthi at the Sachsenring

Tom Lüthi will tackle the last race before the summer break from the fourth row.

The championship-leader Tom Lüthi whereas did not have the perfect run today during the 15-minutes-qualifying-session. Also he did return to the pit box once to get a new rear tyre. He was able to improve his time to 1’24.027, but still was missing four tenths of a second onto the top. The Swiss will start tomorrow’s race from 12th in fourth row and has 28 laps in total to blaze the trail with his strong pace.

Tom Lüthi P12 - 1'24.027 (+0.442)
«I was absolutely at the limit with my front tyre. Of course I'm disappointed because our starting position was much better. We really had a top plan and everything fitted with the tyre. In the third free practice I was also fast and at the front. In the afternoon I just couldn't improve the time and rode as fast as in FP3. Of course that wasn't enough in qualifying. That's a shame, but nothing is lost yet. The race is tomorrow. We will continue to work hard and try to find a solution. Our pace was very good, which is reassuring to know. I think qualifying looks a bit different than usual. There are some in front who might not be able to keep up the pace in tomorrow's race. Logically, the starting position is difficult. Twelfth place is anything but optimal, there is much more risk in the first corners. I have to deal with it and somehow assert myself and fight my way through, then it can still be a very good race. »
