SilverstoneGP: The perfect solution for Silverstone not yet found

Tom Lüthi experienced a difficult qualifying session at the Silverstone Circuit. The Swiss rider will therefore have to tackle the British Grand Prix tomorrow from row four on the grid.

Another bright summer day awaited the MotoGP paddock and the thousands of British fans at Silverstone, and for the twelfth time this year, extremely exciting qualifying decisions were made.

Tom Lüthi, who emerged from the practice sessions in seventh place, was directly competing in afternoon's Q2. Over the course of the 15 qualifying minutes, the Swiss, however, could not find the last missing tenths in order to claim the top spot of Moto2 championship leader Marquez. When he had one last lap left, he tried everything again and sadly had a small crash in the 13th of the 18 corners.

Tom Lüthi P12 - 2'05.071 (+0.697)
«Before qualifying, we had a lot of work to do on the bike and weren't feeling ready yet. We changed the setting completely, which is always a risk. So at first, I had to see how the bike works. There were a few slides and to be able to attack, you also need the tyres. At first you have the necessary extra grip, but in the end, I was lacking grip. I was under a bit of pressure because I had not set a fast lap yet, but then unfortunately I lost the front and crashed. While we are not where we want to be, the whole crew is working hard to get the balance back and to improve the feeling for me. The asphalt is not the reason for our problems. We just keep working on the setting, because although I feel that little by little it's getting better, we haven't found the perfect solution yet. Such a crash means zero points in the race and that shouldn't happen, so we try to fix what caused it.»
