Honda RC213V

Concept The basic concept of the 2017 RC213V continues as it has been applied since its introduction in 2012, while complying to the technical regulation changes including a new tyre supplier in Michelin and the newly introduced Common Software.
Chassis For 2017 the chassis has been modified in its rigidity and balance and designed to reach the maximum compatibility between turning and stability. The twin-spar aluminium chassis is immensely light and yet provides the ideal stiffness and strength characteristics required to contain and deliver more than 180kw from the RC213V’s engine to the rear tyre. As well as strength, the chassis features the right amount of carefully designed flexibility to enhance tyre grip.
Engine Honda adopted a four-cylinder “V” engine with 1,000cc capacity with the RC213V that can exploit maximum power with enough durability to complete the 18 races in the season with 7 engines. Honda have reviewed all the details of the new engine, making it lighter, more powerful and with rider-friendly characteristics.
Suspension For 2017 the RC213V is fitted with Öhlins suspension front and rear. Providing the essential link between wheel and chassis, the suspension’s job is to keep the tyre in contact with the ground and produce maximum grip as the machine hits the thousands of bumps and ripples encountered on every lap. It’s a crucial link in the performance chain and for this reason Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS have a dedicated Öhlins technician assigned to them.
Bodywork The lightweight carbon-fibre bodywork plays an important role in making the RC213V as aerodynamic as possible. The 2017 RC213V has a modified fairing to reach the maximum compatibility and performance between handling and drag.
Tyres MotoGP tyres are supplied exclusively by Michelin and are now 17” in dianeter. Each rider is permitted to use a maximum of 22 slick tyres, 14 wet tyres and 6 intermediate tyres during each Grand Prix weekend.
Brakes Brembo supplies the carbon-fibre front brakes. For the rear disk and front disks when running in wet conditions, the RC213V relies on steel brake disks.
